The Deco’s history of being “the Northampton venue” for performing acts like theatre productions, pantomime, live bands and music goes back all the way to 1936 when the venue first opened its doors as the Savoy cinema.

Over the years the venue has played host to many famous acts. In the ’60s, the Deco (or the ABC cinema as it used to be known) was a gig venue for many touring bands of the time, including the Rolling Stones, and of course, as many of Northampton remember, in November 1963, the Beatles.

More recently the fully refurbished and fully equipped auditorium has played host to the live music tour of Paul Carrack (formerly of Mike & The Mechanics), every year the Northampton Scouts perform their annual music and dance “Gang show” and of course come Christmas time the Deco has become known for being one of the favourite venues for Pantomime and family entertainment in Northampton, featuring all kinds of celebrities and household names.

The Deco is the home of family entertainment in Northampton and now regularly features a wide variety of shows and events for all the family. Check our events listing to keep up to date with all the upcoming shows.
