Corporate Social Responsibility
(Chief Executive & Producer of The Deco Theatre at The Old Savoy) Kevin Roach (Chairman of Raf-Fixed-It “Dreams Come True”) Rafik Hussein
We have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Rafik Hussein and his “Performing Arts Education Accessible to All”, that Rafik set up in 2012. We have been inspired by Rafik’s unpaid charity work and are proud to have been able to contribute to his mission, to provide disadvantaged young individuals with access to dance, music, and drama education.
We are committed to making a positive impact on society, and we believe that everyone deserves the right to visit the venue wether it is to see a show or to sing, dance and act themselves, regardless of their abilities, and without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, we are committed to supporting the community and promoting inclusivity.
Mission statement
The objects of The Old Savoy are to carry on activities which benefit the community by providing facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation and in particular (without limitation) to provide a cinema, theatre and/or other facilities at subsidised rates.

Born to Perform Day Provision provides day care opportunities for adults with disabilities on weekdays at the theatre. Students who attend, enjoy participating in the full theatre experience by learning, rehearsing and performing on stage.
We offer work experience to students from the group throughout our panto season and are looking to extend this scheme.
Born to perform initially joined us for two days a week after lockdown, the provision has grown and they currently use the venue for four days a week, from September 2023 they will use the venue for the full week Monday to Friday.
During school holidays additional workshops are held for younger participants which enables them to benefit from the full experience of theatre.

Starlight Stage School was established in the early 2000’s and is now owned by principle Charley Marsh. They have been based at The Old Savoy – Home of The Deco Theatre in Northampton for over two years.
Starlight like to give their students as many performance opportunities as possible and feel that being situated within a functional theatre venue is the ideal place to do this – as a venue we support the students by giving them opportunties to audition and perform in theatre led productions including the Christmas Pantomime, chosen students perform on the stage with the full cast to audiences of over 900.

Supporting our local schools and groups
The Old Savoy works closely with a number of school PTA’s. During our pantomime season we offer heavily discounted tickets for the school to sell at the face value giving them the opportunity to fund raise on each ticket sold.
We offer all uniformed groups tickets at half price of our lowest priced seats, giving the members the opportunity to enjoy the experience of live theatre at a very reasonable price.
We regularly donate raffle prizes of family tickets for Panto and Childrens shows to local school fetes and fundraisers.
Seat Filling Scheme
We offer disadvantaged groups the opportunity to experience live theatre by registering for our seat filling scheme.
On the occasions where shows have not reached their target audience numbers and promoters wish to go ahead with the show, we offer seats to organisations at a vastly reduced price or free of charge (dependant on the promoters discresion) to build an audience for the show.
Groups include (but not limited to) :
- Northampton Women’s Refuge
- MIND Northampton
- Spectrum Northampton
- Tinkers Bridge Neighbourhood Association
If you would like to register your organisation for this scheme please call the box office on 01604 491005.
RISE is an innovative staff-led mutual that designs and delivers behavioural change programmes and new approaches. Their work is used in the criminal justice system and community to transform the lives of individuals, families and communities.
In order to create safe communities, RISE empowers people to break their cycle of harmful behaviour and develop better relationships with their families and society. A large part of this is through our work in tackling domestic violence and abuse.
RISE’s interventions challenge attitudes and facilitate long-lasting behaviour change. They are driven by the belief that anyone can make better decisions, given the right support. They offer this support through a combination of group work and one-to-one sessions, the programmes aim to prevent reoffending.
We have been a centre for the delivery of these courses since 2020 both during and post lockdown. We were able to facilitate the courses during lockdown as they formed part of the judicial system.
