Deaf Utopia! Come into our world!
An event to showcase and celebrate everything to do with deafness or hearing loss. Whether you’re Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafened, Deafblind or know someone who is come and see all of the services, organisations and activities on offer.
The daytime between 10:00-16:00 (Free Entry) has a number of stallholders from organisations run for or by Deaf people. There will also be a range of children’s activities such as cake decorating and facepainting as well as two workshops for families from the fantastic Punk Chef who will be doing a family cooking demo and Richard Carter doing a children’s British Sign Language Poetry Workshop that will be fun for all the family.
From 19:00-Midnight (Tickets Only) there will be an over 16’s only performance from 3 acts all delivering in British Sign Language. (Subtitles and Voiceover Available)
Our Headline Act John Smith- has been performing his sell out comedy routines across the world for many years and has found world wide recognition for his standup that covers topics such as Current Deaf Issues, Deaf Politics and school life.
Richard Carter – “is one of the UK’s foremost Deaf BSL Poets with many original Sign Language poems, stories and performances…” He has performed all over the world at many different events.
Rinkoo Barpaga- ‘Being a born and bred Deaf British Sign Language user, Rinkoo leads us through the unknown world of Mars (aka the Deaf World) through highly amusing and often eye opening anecdotes of his life.” After learning his trade in the US Rinkoo has now performed at a number of sell out locations in the UK.
