Magician Maddox Dixon, who became an overnight hit when he appeared on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ last month, is heading to Northampton’s Deco Theatre, to perform his acclaimed live stage show of magic and illusions.
Maddox, 31, is now fulfilling his dream of performing magic to live audiences, having taken it up as a full-time profession last year. He is including The Deco as a venue on his first ever UK tour, and will be appearing in Northampton on Friday, October 19.
Having wowed the four ‘BGT’ judges – David Walliams, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell – with his trick involving a Rubik’s Cube, he came within a whisker of making the final after another amazing performance in the semi-finals with a gravity defying act that earned him a standing ovation.
Though he is a relatively newcomer performing magic, he is no stranger to live audiences – before magic took over his life, Maddox played keyboards for the British band Foxes, who supported Coldplay on their US tour in 2016.
Indeed, it was there Coldplay that he had his big break, courtesy of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, after he spotted him doing magic tricks backstage. He promptly invited Maddox to open the show the next night, performing his magic in front of an audience of 20,000 – which was the moment he decided that was the way he wanted his career to go from there on.
